On the Fourth Sunday of Easter, Fr. Marc examines the various images in the Good Shepherd passage from the tenth chapter of John’s Gospel.

Fr. Marc looks at the conversation in John’s Gospel between Jesus and Nicodemus, a religious leader who was interested in following Christ but also afraid of what that decision might cost him. Jesus teaches Nicodemus that he must be born again–a spiritual rebirth–to enter the kingdom of God.
Today’s message begins with an encouraging testimony from a young man named Raj who works in an orphanage in the Andaman Islands, a group of islands southeast India. Fr. Marc then challenges us from Scripture to consider our ‘spiritual itinerary’, where we are going in our relationship with God and in eternity.
Fr. Marc looks at the transition in Jesus’ life from ministry to Israel to a mission to bring salvation to Israel and the whole world through death on the Cross. Jesus wasn’t the type of Messiah the people wanted or expected, but He was and is the Messiah that we all desperately need.
Drawing from the story of Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River, Fr. Marc discusses the three baptisms in the Christian life: birth, the baptism of water for repentance, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit that empowers us to live out our faith in Christ.

In the second part of the series, Fr. Marc looks at Jude, 1 John and other Scriptures as he compares counterfeit Christianity to genuine faith. He closes with an invitation to authenticity through a personal relationship with Jesus and fellowship with the Church.
