“Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in action and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)

Service is essential to discipleship. To know Jesus is to know those in need; for He is one with them. “Those who give to the poor lend to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” (Proverbs 19:17)

We are blessed to enjoy a number of outreach opportunities at Good Shepherd. It brings great joy to develop friendships with our brothers and sisters who may be in need. It is a blessing to hear their stories, to share our stores, and to pray for one another.

Local Outreach

Weekly Free Meal

Need a free lunch or know someone who does? Wednesdays at 1pm Good Shepherd dishes out a free meal to those who need it – all are welcome! To-go meals are also available. You can find more details here.

It takes many people working together to make this happen. If you have a few free hours to volunteer, please join us once or regularly by contacting the church office (info@goodshepherdcedarhill.com) or reaching out to Jackie directly.

Warming/Cooling Station

In times of inclement weather (usually in the middle of winter or the height of summer) our church opens its doors those who may be experiencing homelessness or otherwise in need of shelter from the heat or cold. The timing for this ministry is entirely dependent on weather. You can find more details here.

We’re also accepting donations of shelf-stable, nutritious snacks and bottled water for those taking shelter. Contact the church office to schedule a drop-off time.

Crestview Services

Every week, after services at our church building, we head down the block to Crestview Court Rehabilitation Center and hold services for the homebound residents there. We welcome additional music and prayer leaders! You can sign up to help lead worship by contacting the church office (info@goodshepherdcedarhill.com) or reaching our to Fr. Skorburg directly.

Praise in the Park

Once a month, on the Second Sunday of the month, we head over to Cedar Hill State Park and have an outdoor worship time after our regular Sunday morning services. A song service at 12:30 is followed by a free picnic at 1:00, after which people have the opportunity to hang out to play games and find out more about local resources.

Check out our calendar for more information!

Shepherd Aid
